Covering an area of 1,062 sq km (415 sq miles), Saadani National Park is sited on the north coast of Tanzania, approximately 100km North West of Dar es Salaam. The Park is home to a variable mix of both marine and mainland flora and fauna. Saadani is an ideal blend of island relaxation and safari excitement.

The unique vegetation of the park includes mangrove forests surrounding Wami River and ocean, short and tall-grass savannah, clumps of palm trees, coral reefs, and the harsh black cotton plains.

Saadani holds a huge concentration of waterbucks, wildebeests, hartebeests, reedbucks, buffaloes and giraffes, elephants, lions, leopards, warthogs, baboons and colobus monkeys. Hippos, huge crocodiles and malachite can also be seen.

A boat safari on the Wami River is a true highlight offering wildlife viewing and incredible bird watching with the magical sunset at the background.

Even for ornithologists this place is truly spectacular. The most common birds include the woolly necked stork, common sand pipers, lilac-breasted rollers, palm nut vultures, fish eagles and ground hornbills.   African cuckoo hawk, African skimmer, Greater flamingo, Long-crested eagle, Pel’s fishing-owl.

Activities in Sadaani National Park include game drives, boat safaris and walking safaris accompanied by an armed ranger. Saadani National Park is best for both adventurous and luxury travellers. The different types of accommodations inside the park are luxury lodges, public campsites, and tented camps in- and outside the National Park.
