The Ngurdoto Crater
Well-Known as mini Ngorongoro Crater, The Ngurdoto Crater is a dormant volcanic crater located in Arusha National Park. The park is 3.6 Km in diameter and 100 meters in depth. It is surrounded by forests but diverse ecosystem. The magnificent scenery enhances the beauty of the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater.
Momela Lakes
The collections of beauty of seven lakes contribute the tranquil beauty of the Momela Lake. The seven lakes are big Momela, small Momela, El Kekhotoito, Kusare, Rishateni, Lekandiro and Tulusia. All the seven lakes are fed by different water sources.
All the seven lakes are different in colour algae and mineral content according to the presence of algae and mineral content. The lakes are hubs of 400 bird species that inhabit Arusha.
Mount Meru
Mount Meru draws the main tourist attraction of Arusha National Park is. With a height of 4,566 meters, it is the fifth-highest mountain in Africa and second-highest in Tanzania. It is visible from every part of the park.
It is often used as a trekking destination by tourists before Climbing Kilimanjaro to gain experience and get properly acclimatized. With the low altitude and mesmerizing all-round views from the top, the climb is often rewarding for most trekkers.
Diverse Wildlife
Arusha holds a diverse range of wildlife like black and white colobus monkeys, the Vervet monkeys, the red forest duikers, hippos, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, bushbucks. Leopards are rare. Hosting to more than 400 numbers of bird species it is a grand choice for the bird lovers.

Throughout the year is good for wildlife viewing in Arusha National Park. But the dry season (late June to October) is normally considered the best. The vegetation becomes thin and it becomes easy to spot animals as they gather at water sources. The wet season (November to May) offers the most impressive scenic view. The clear skies of December to February give the best view of Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro.
Blue monkey and black-and-white colobus, shy red duiker, dik-dik. Giraffe, buffalo, charismatic black-and-white colobus monkey is the flagship species.
Water birds like flamingo, pelican, little grebe, a variety of heron, duck and wader are common. Augur buzzard, Verreaux’s eagle and other cliff-associated raptors can often be seen flying above Ngurdoto Crater. Over 400 species of birds make the view of the park more appealing.

Like other national parks, travelling to Lake Arusha National Park is also safe. Although some health concerns are necessary to follow, like mosquito repellent with at least 30% DEET, antimalaria medication and covering the skin during the evening time.
