Mnazi Bay Ruvuma is a multi-purpose marine protected area with globally significant marine biodiversity values and it covers a total land and sea area of 650 sq km with 20,000 inhabitants.
Touching the border of Mozambique, the marine park is placed in Southern Tanzania. The water of the biodiversity holds a major population of dolphins, turtle, whales and different kinds of birds.
Covered with mangroves, coral reefs and grass beds, the area is renowned as being internationally important for its biodiversity. The locals of the area are one of the poorest and least developed in Tanzania. The boost of tourism is a helping hand for the growth of tourism of the 12 villages located near the region. The marine resources are also a source of income for the local villages.
The marine park offers the best diving spots for the visitors. With over 400 different species of fishes the pristine white sands of the beach complete this tropical paradise.

Like other national parks, travelling to Mnazi Bay Ruvuma is also safe. Although some health concerns are necessary to follow, like mosquito repellent with at least 30% DEET, antimalaria medication and covering the skin during the evening time.
